Welcome to Markin Kalpataru

"Markin Kalpataru",
is a derived noun from one of the most popular Music Program still being
broadcasted by All India Radio, Guwahati, in the state of Assam, India.
To our understanding, Kalpataru is a wish fulfilling tree, but here it
means a Music-on-Request program which plays a wide range of Assamese
music on request. The word "Markin" in assamese
means from the United States Of America. Altogether, "Markin
Kalpataru" means A Kalpataru Like music program ,
originated in the United States.
Since November 1997, we have been providing quality Assamese Music to over thousands of Assamese individuals around the globe. With a
relentless pursuit for perfection, Markin Kalpataru found it's
repository of songs capable of handling a real-time WEB RADIO Station. On
June 20th, 1999 Markin Kalpataru started streaming audio real-time.
Please subscribe to our Gold Membership Plan, log on to the secured

Assamese are the friendliest Indians by Khushwant Singh Sunday, May 10 @ 08:46:10 MDT 2009 by mkadmin2 (126 reads) | geetasree writes "WE got talking about the friendliest people in our country. We analysed Panjus (Punjabis), Bhaiyas (Uttar Pradeshis and Biharis), Bongs (Bengalis), Dakhanis (Telengas, Kannadas), Mallus (Malayalis), Madrasis (Tamilians), Mian Bhais (Muslims), Makapaons (Christians) and Bawajis (Parsis). We went down the list demolishing each group for one defect or the other. Panjus: very forthcoming but uncouth and loud-mouthed, who wants to make friends with them ? Bhaiyas: non-descript, neither as extrovert as Panjus nor as introspective as Bongs. Bongs: think they are number one Indians and very arty; when Bengal sneezes, the rest of India catches a cold etc. And clannish. No cuisine culture, only moshti doi and roshogulla. Maharashtrians, Dakhanees, Madrasis and Mallus, all lumped together as Madrasis, are full of caste prejudices and rarely invite people to their homes. Makapaons and Bawajis are half-baked firengis: you don’t feel relaxed in their company. General conclusion: people who prefer their own kind — language-wise or caste-wise — don’t qualify to compete for the "friendship championship". Nor do people who keep their women in purdah or in the kitchen."
